Blueair Blue Pure Mini Max: quiet HEPASilent filtration for small rooms

Blueair Blue Pure Mini Max Swedish air purifier with woven grey pre-filter stands by the sofa in a living room

Engineered in Stockholm for bedrooms and studies up to 20 square metres, the Blueair Blue Pure Mini Max cleans the air in a 9 m² room every 12.5 minutes while running as quietly as a whisper at 20 decibels. By combining mechanical particle filtration with an electrostatic charge, it traps airborne dust, pollen, and pet dander down to 0.1 microns using just 2 to 10 watts of electricity.

Air purifiers usually fail in small European bedrooms for two reasons. Either they look like a white plastic hospital machine, or the fan hums loudly enough on its lowest setting to ruin your sleep.

Founded in Sweden in 1996 by Bengt Rittri, Blueair solved both problems by wrapping the intake cylinder in a removable Scandinavian knit fabric sleeve and rethinking how air moves through the filter. It is a natural companion to the calm, clutter-free spaces featured in our European aesthetic reading nooks guide.

How HEPASilent technology keeps the fan at 20 dB

Traditional HEPA purifiers force air through a very dense paper mat using a loud, high-pressure fan. Blueair splits the job into three quieter stages:

  1. The woven textile pre-filter (Stage 1): The outer Stockholm Fog or Limestone Beige fabric sleeve catches large visible dust bunnies, lint, and pet hair before they ever reach the internal cartridge. When it gets dusty, you pull it off and toss it into the washing machine at 40°C.
  2. Electrostatic particle charging (Stage 2): As air enters the bottom 360-degree intake, an internal ioniser gives incoming microscopic particles a slight static charge.
  3. Low-density polypropylene & carbon mesh (Stage 3): Because the particles are statically charged, they cling like magnets to a less dense polypropylene filter layer lined with activated coconut carbon for light household odours. Air flows through with much less resistance, allowing the fan to spin slowly at 20 dB on Night Mode – quieter than rustling leaves – while drawing less power than a single LED lightbulb.

Measuring just 28 centimetres tall and 17 centimetres wide, the Mini Max runs from a two-button top interface with an automatic LED dimmer that switches off completely after five seconds so your bedroom stays pitch black.
