Laura Ashley China Rose kettle and canisters: 1953 British print on stainless steel

Laura Ashley China Rose stainless steel electric kettle and matching tea coffee sugar canisters

Combining a 1.7-litre (7-cup) fast-boil electric dome kettle with three airtight tea, coffee, and sugar storage tins, the Laura Ashley China Rose collection brings archival 1953 London textile patterns onto heavy-gauge food-grade stainless steel. The kettle pairs a 3000W concealed Strix heating element with an external mechanical thermometer dial for precise tea brewing.

Even the most carefully arranged kitchen worktop looks untidy when half-open paper bags of sugar, clipped coffee pouches, and cardboard tea boxes are left sitting next to the kettle.

Founded by Laura and Bernard Ashley in London in 1953, the brand’s delicate China Rose motif – small pink roses and sage leaves on a crisp white ground – was originally screen-printed onto cotton fabric.

Applied here under a heat- and scratch-resistant gloss lacquer over stainless steel, it coordinates the dry storage zone in our vintage European kitchen essentials and our European kitchen ideas and regional styles guide.

Inside the 1.7-litre China Rose electric dome kettle

  • Analogue temperature dial (0°C–100°C): Mounted directly on the front of the steel dome so you can flick the switch off at 80°C for green tea or 92°C for French press coffee, rather than scorching delicate leaves with 100°C boiling water.
  • 3000W rapid boil & Strix safety: Boils a single cup in under 45 seconds on a 360-degree cordless base, equipped with automatic boil-dry shut-off and a removable anti-scale spout filter.
  • Cool-touch loop handle: Angled overhead handle with a pull-off whistling-style lid for wide tap filling.

Inside the matching 3-piece stainless steel canister set

Instead of porous ceramic jars that chip when you drop the lid, the three matching canisters (marked for Tea, Coffee, and Sugar) are spun from rust-proof, non-reactive food-grade stainless steel.

Each 1.3-litre tin uses a push-fit friction lid that blocks out kitchen humidity and light, keeping granulated sugar dry and coffee beans fresh on an open shelf.
